why did you bring it here? tell me
june 03, 2019
do not pigeonhole me into your pain
or put past into these now places
you contrive, this way, an energy between us that neither you or i can understand. for it is foreign land and territory,
even if we both knew these things to be true, at a time. they are not for us now
i can feel that much for certain
as i grapple with nonsense and fear laid out before me. it feels like shame,
as i watch it try to scurry into the shadows and hide. it knows it is not meant for this space between us, gasping for air in a place it does not belong.
why did you bring it here? tell me
call it by it’s name and please ask it to leave,
i can almost hear (it) before you say, “i don’t know it that intimately”…..
